Brussels — Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prévo has condemned the latest plans and measures announced by the Israeli government aimed at tightening its control over the West Bank, calling it a blatant violation of international law. Israel had announced last Sunday a series of measures aimed at strengthening its control over Areas (A) and (B) in the occupied Palestinian territories, facilitating land purchases to expand settlements, as well as plans to control sites. Prévo stated on Tuesday that peace can only be achieved through respect for the law and respect for others, emphasizing that any unilateral actions undermine the chances for lasting peace in the region.
