César Huerta Faces Defeat in Belgian Cup Final

The Mexican player César Huerta suffered his first setback in European football when his team, Anderlecht, lost the Belgian Cup final to Club Brugge 2-1 at the King Baudouin Stadium. Despite being a starter, Huerta played 68 minutes during which he could not prevent his team's defeat against a solid Brugge both in defense and attack.

The Academy, as Brugge is known, demonstrated its status as the favorite by opening the scoring just before the end of the first half with a goal from Romeo Vermant. In the second half, Anderlecht tried to react but failed to generate enough danger. Vermant scored again to extend Brugge's lead. Despite a goal from Luis Vázquez in stoppage time, Anderlecht could not equalize.

With this defeat, César Huerta was unable to secure his first title in Europe in his first season, as his team was eliminated from the Europa League and is far from the top spots in the Belgian league. Anderlecht now needs to secure at least fourth place in the league to guarantee their presence in international competitions next season.
