The Brussels prosecutor's office announced the arrest of former international football player of the national team of Belgium, Radja Nainggolan. The sportsman was detained as part of an investigation into corruption and the embezzlement of funds in the football industry. Currently, Nainggolan lives in Belgium and plays for a local club.
During a court session, the prosecutor presented Nainggolan with charges of involvement in financial machinations in the football sector. Along with this, the sportsman is also suspected of connections with underground structures involved in illegal betting. Nainggolan remains under investigation until the end of the investigation.
The football player's press service currently refuses to comment on the incident, however, Nainggolan's advocate stated that the accusations presented against him are unfounded, and they intend to fight for his exoneration.
