The Secretary of State of the United States, Antony Blinken, expressed during his visit to NATO headquarters in Brussels his firm stance on the participation of North Korean troops in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. After meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Blinken stated that the presence of North Korean forces in the combat would require a strong response.

In this regard, Blinken emphasized the importance of continued support for Ukraine against Russian aggression, as well as the connection between security in various areas such as the Euro-Atlantic theater, the Indo-Pacific theater, and the Middle East. Rutte also stressed that the Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific theaters are not independent, and what happens in Ukraine has global repercussions.

The U.S. Secretary of State argued that it is crucial to strengthen cooperation among allies, reinforce the military industrial base, and focus defense investments in priority areas. He pointed to President Joe Biden's determination to maintain and strengthen the Atlantic Alliance, ensuring support for Ukraine in its defense.

According to Rutte, U.S. leadership has been fundamental in preventing Russia from prevailing in Ukraine. However, he warned about the additional threat posed by the presence of North Korean soldiers in the Ukrainian country, increasing Putin's potential to cause harm. On the other hand, he mentioned the collaboration of China and Iran in the conflict, which requires greater efforts from NATO to ensure security and stability in the region.
